Synopsis:

Cassy, 9 ans, est butée, renfermée, en colère. Elle a récemment perdu sa mère dans un accident mystérieux. Sa hargne se confronte à celle de son père, un homme brutal qui traite les femmes comme des objets. Alors que la petite fille retrouve un semblant de bonheur auprès d’une tendre professeure de chant, le comportement du père devient de plus en plus incontrôlable… Les thèmes de l’enfance et du deuil se mêlent à l’actualité la plus brûlante lorsque le harcèlement sexuel, la violence et l’homophobie s’invitent dans le récit. Natacha Mitrani, la fille du réalisateur, est absolument bouleversante dans le rôle difficile de Cassy.

Storyline:

Cassy, 9, is obsessed, silent, angry. Recently, she lost her mother to a mysterious accident. Her turmoil clashes with that of her father, a violent man who treats women like objects. While the little girl rediscovers a kind of happiness thanks to a kind vocal instructor, the father’s behaviour grows increasingly erratic. Childhood and grieving confront some hot-button issues when sexual harassment, violence and homophobia enter the scene. Natacha Mitrani, the director’s daughter, is heartbreaking in the challenging role of Cassy.
